8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a house in Glengormley.
A guy was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications by means of the web.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.
He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be hazardous.
"These kinds of products being sold, generally online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their safety.
"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the impact drugs like this might have on your health."
